PlayStation’s State of Play livestream returns this week, will highlight MediEval remake and a new game

Remember State of Play, the Nintendo Direct-style livestream event that PlayStation used last month to announce cool games like Marvel’s Iron Man VR and ReadySet Heroes? Well Sony has announced via the PlayStation Blog that a new one is coming as early as Thursday May 9th, with special attention being given to PS4’s upcoming MediEvil remake as well as a new game.

The broadcast will occur at 3:00pm Pacific Time and is expected to last around 10 minutes. That might not sound like a lot of time, but if there’s anything the last State of Play proved it’s that Sony knows how to fit a lot of information into a very small package.

“PlayStation Worldwide Studios will be showing off an extended look at MediEvil, as well as a first look at a new title.” Explained PlayStation’s Social Media Director Sid Shuman. He went on to say that as well as highlighting these, “we’ll have other updates and announcements from upcoming PS4 games.” Anyone wanting to know more about the PS5, however, maybe don’t hold your breath. “Don’t expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time,” Shuman clarified.

While PlayStation 5 might be a no-show (more will be said about that during E3, we’d wager) the tease of a new, unannounced game has us intrigued. Nobody saw the reveal of Marvel’s Iron Man VR coming during Sony’s last State of Play livestream. Could we be in for a similar treat this time around?

Thursday is fast approaching, so it’s not too long before we learn what’s in store for the immediate future of PS4. Will you be watching live? Let us know in the comments section below.
